And I know, I've been a baaad girl. Haven't blogged for close to a month. I have no excuse except to say I'm busy with my girl and summer just seems to bring all kinds of activity. So, I'll go with the old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words...
No sooner did I post about Lulu not wearing dresses, did she get a hand-me down from mom's work friend's granddaughter and insisted on wearing it. The ruby red slippers too.

My birthday... Lulu opened most of my gifts. Best one was from her. A big, chunky, blue bracelet she picked out at Target. She liked it because the beads looked like balls and jellybeans (Jello Beans in Lulu speak).

My cousin, Ayi Vickie (certain very special women get the "Ayi" title from Lulu) was here for a DUI conference (she's a lawyer, not an offender!) and Lulu loved following her around copying her every move. Vickie, she still wants two white shirts! We had a good weekend, ate like pigs and spent one afternoon walking around Cannery Row.We went swimming at cousin Brian's house last weekend. Lulu's first time in the pool and not two minutes in, she slips and falls under. Uncle Chris got her quickly, and after one "no more" request, was soon dipping her face in and splashing around like an old pro. My Lulu definitely throws herself into new things with wholehearted gusto!

Oh, and one event of note, but no pic, last Thursday a couple of hours after Lulu went to bed, I heard sobbing. I went in, turned on the light and she her on her knees on the floor at the edge of the bed. I assumed incorrectly that she's had some wild, scary nightmare and I flicked on the light and picked her up and found blood gushing from her nose and mouth. As far as I could tell, she'd rolled out of bed and hit the nightstand. Now, the nightstand is at the exact same height as the bed, and bumper guarded to the hilt, but she managed somehow to whack her face on it. Poor babe. Bled for about 20 minutes, she was asleep in about 10, but the cold compress did the trick. She had a fat upper and lower lip for a couple of days, but she was so proud to have a nice big "owie" she could show everyone in school the next day.

And this weekend my parents, Lulu and I went to Bonfante Gardens: http://www.bonfantegardens.com/ This is a theme park with a horticultural theme with fun, mostly gentle rides for kiddos primarily under 10. It also has incredibly beautiful gardens and wild circus trees. I'd recommend to anyone, particularly if you've got little ones who are often too small for regular rides at most theme parks. Lulu couldn't quite get that it was a park without swings and slides. But once we got there and she saw the park, she got it! She rode everything and didn't flinch at things that moved quickly, were dark, made a lot of noise, etc. Oh yeah, this girl's ready for Disneyland!
